TAEM News Flash- Our Music Store is now Open!

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

With the recent closing of Sam Goody’s and availability of finding music CD’s growing smaller, The Arts and Entertainment Magazine is jumping in to fill the void to help musicians sell their work. Starting immediately we are opening ‘ Our Music Store’ for their convenience. Our ads only cost $20.00 per CD, per month to advertise with us.

Musicians need to simply send us their CD cover art, the price they are selling it for, the link to the site they are selling it through, and choose the number of months they wish to display it for. You can pay right through the magazine too, by using PayPal or  accepted Credit Card. It’s as simple as that.

We will display ads of ALL genres of CD’s, with the exception erotic album covers.

And the good news is that we DO NOT handle CD sales as ALL sales are made directly through the musicians sites that the link for the ad goes to. So we do not collect commissions on sales either. So send us your ads now to beat the  expected rush for Our Music Store. If you need cover art for your album, we can arrange that through our affiliate, Creation Depot.

TAEM News Flash- ‘Jake & Jasper: A Ferret Tale’

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

The Arts and Entertainment Magazine has just learned that actor Andrew Jackson, who we recently interviewed in our March 2011 issue, will be playing alongside veteran actor Blu Mankuma (2012, ‘Look Who’s Talking), and Connor Stanhope (Smallville, Merlin’s Apprentice) in ‘Jake & Jasper: A Ferret Tale’. Alison Parker is also the Producer and Director for this film. Also onboard is another rising Canadian actress, Nina Hagerty.

This is a short film and it is very interesting how they pulled it together. This is going to be a must-see film with great acting, talented cast and crew, and fabulous story-line. We are hoping that this ‘G’- rated film will become available for movie-goers everywhere in the very near future.

With us we have the cast members, and the film’s producer, and we want to ask them questions about the film:

TAEM- Andrew, tell us the theme behind the movie and the role that you play in it.

AJ- A family torn apart with grief attempts to deal with the loss of a mother and wife. The father lacks the tools necessary to help his children deal with their shattered world. It takes a very special relationship between a boy and his new found ferret friend to save him from his pain and ultimately bring the boy and his family back together.

I believe our relationship to the animal world is sacred.  (more…)

Gemini Nominated Actress Ellen Dubin in ‘Dead Before Dawn’

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

The Arts and Entertainment Magazine has learned that Gemini nominated actress Ellen Dubin, whom we first interviewed in our May 2010 issue, has landed in a role in the new movie, ‘Dead Before Dawn’. This film has been produced by Wango Films, and is a fast paced horror adventure comedy.

The Arts and Entertainment Magazine released a Press Release in our News Section in our August issue and just learned of Ellen’s involvement in it. Ellen, can you tell us a little about the film?

TAEM- Describe your role in this production for us.

ED-I play Beverly Galloway – a sweet doting overprotective loving mother – a kind of throwback to those tv mom’s of the 1950’s – who turns into an evil vindictive zemon- half zombie, half demon.

It is so much fun for me to go from such a pert loving character to a wild crazy zemon.

Love the contrast. Wait till you see the fabulous zemon makeup! Spooky!!! I have to thank the make up and hair team of Kenji Sato, Monik Walmsley and Erin Olmstead- what a transformation that really helped in my playing of the character. (more…)

The Arts and Entertainment Magazine attends: World Music and Independent Film Festival!

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

The Arts and Entertainment Magazine attended the World Music and Independent Film Festival in Washington, DC on Saturday, August 20th.

The event was a success with many artists from the music and independent film fields attending. The affair was held in the beautiful Capital Hilton, not far from the White House. We started to gather on the second floor and entered the waiting area just outside the hotel’s Congressional Ballroom. Here the Red Carpet event took place and many of the celebrities gathered to have their pictures taken. A short time later we entered the Congressional Ballroom where we were served some of the renowned food that the hotel is famous for. (more…)

News Flash! – The Resolve Webseries for September’s Issue

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

‘The Resolve’ web series will not be seen in The Arts and Entertainment Magazine as it is now being prepared for DVD sales. We wish a hearty congratulations to the cast and crew of the series, and it’s producer Russ Cootey, and wish them much luck.

‘The Resolve’ is a great fiction-thriller about a murder and mayhem in an anger therapy group. It is well filmed and the acting is superb. Our hat is off to ‘The Resolve’, and Russ Cootey in particular, for this great production.

In The News – Director Jeff Bonilla and Chakra Love

Monday, August 1st, 2011
Jeff Bonilla

Jeff Bonilla

Writer/Director Jeff Bonilla and his film ‘Chakra Love’, made headlines recently due to the fallout from the Jerry Seinfeld show, ‘The Marriage Ref”. Jeff, who The Eerie Digest magazine interviewed in our September 2010 issue, was tickled to death about the free publicity the uproar gave to his film, ‘Chakra Love’.

Apparently Howie Kohlenberg and his wife, Christine, appeared in the very first episode of Jerry’s reality show, and then blamed the NBC show for his marriage breakup. He claimed they would advertise his spa (now out-of business) then failed to live up to their promises. Instead, he claimed, they complimented his wife to the extent of leading her astray, in which she packed her bags and left for Hollywood.

There she found a bit part in Jeff Bonilla’s film, Chakra Love, which he produced, wrote, and directed.  “It’s ironic that my film is about being careful what you wish for and the Kohlenberg’s are going through their own true life version of  Careful what you wish for” said Jeff when reached for a comment.   Jeff won ‘Best Director’s Award’ at the Best Actor’s Film Festival for this short film. Christine went on to another reality show and moved in with a Canadian producer. The Seinfeld show has no comment on the matter.

ED Goes to the Biltmore

Friday, July 1st, 2011

This past week proved exciting as my family was invited as guests to the Biltmore Estate by a good friend and gracious lady, Susan Holder.

Susan invited us to celebrate her retirement. Our daughter, Jennifer, will be marrying her son Brian, so it was a chance to meet the entire Holder family as well. We were also celebrating the graduation of her niece, Lauren McDonnell, from nursing school. It was a large get-together, and Susan rented a number of rooms at The Inn at Biltmore to accommodate all of her guests. My daughter is blessed to be welcomed by such a lovely family, and a wonderfully great time was had by all. My little granddaughter, Haven, proved to be the life of the party at all the events that we attended together. (more…)

The Eerie Digest reaches into its Past

Friday, July 1st, 2011

The Eerie Digest publisher, Joseph J. O’Donnell, and his family have joined the Fauquier County Heritage Society. He is a first generation American, and his father was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Now he intends to search for his roots.

On May 13th, 2001 he attended the Society’s meeting that was held in the Christ Church on Green Street, in Warrenton, Virginia. Our hosts were Jim and Sharon Breeden, and aside from the usual fanfare of meeting business we enjoyed traditional Scottish food and the sound of bagpipes.

Accompanying this news article you will see an attached photo of the members along with Mr. O’Donnell’s family. We have not received the list of attending members as of this news article, but hope to do so in the future.

Announcing publication of new biography of William Gillette

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New Biography Brings William Gillette Back to Life; Created Image of Sherlock Holmes More than 70 years after his death, a new biography tells the story of one of the American theater’s greatest stars.

William Gillette is best-remembered today as the living personification of Sherlock Holmes. He wrote the first popular play about the detective and brought Holmes to life and established for all time the image of Holmes with the deerstalker cap, the bent briar pipe and the profile, creating what may be the most instantly recognizable icon in the world. And it was from Gillette’s play that Hollywood film-makers derived four of the famous phrase, “Elementary, my dear Watson.”

“Gillette established the manner in which Holmes was to be portrayed,” author Henry Zecher explained. “Mysteries in general have been staged on the template he created; and, until Jeremy Brett did his own interpretation, actors playing Holmes for the next several decades did it the way Gillette did it.” (more…)

Remembering William Gillette, America’s Sherlock Holmes

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Henry Zecher

New book brings back to life one of the Western world’s premier actors and playwrights

Waukesha, WI – (Release Date: March 28, 2011) – Although he is primarily remembered today for playing Sherlock Holmes, William Gillette was one of the leading actors and playwrights of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and a major force in bringing realism to the stage. Yet he is largely unknown today. Now, author Henry Zecher resurrects him through a fascinating biography, William Gillette, America’s Sherlock Holmes.

As a dramatist, Gillette brought realism in his sets, dialogue, and performance. As an actor, he perfected the strong, silent hero persona, put forth the actor’s personality as his most important asset, and left us “The Illusion of the First Time.” He also left us the image of Sherlock Holmes and created the template for producing mysteries on both stage and screen. Yet he is all but forgotten today while less successful playwrights are remembered. William Gillette, America’s Sherlock Holmes brings him back to life and unveils his enormous successes and accomplishments, as well as a brilliant mind, a sharp wit and bountiful heart that made him beloved as well as admired. Here is what three notable people said of this book:

Star Update- Actress Stephanie Rigizadeh makes good !

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

Stephanie Rigizadeh

In our July 2010 issue of The Eerie Digest magazine, we had the pleasure of introducing actress Stephanie Rigizadeh to all our readers. Stephanie has come a long way since then and has recently visited Hollywood with some remarkable results.

Stephanie has also had a role in Mark Moran’s recent production of ‘Blast and Whisper’ in which we will cover over the next few issues of this magazine. ‘Blast and Whisper’ is a period piece set in biblical times, and is a gripping tale of trial and faith, and is a must see for cinema audiences everywhere. It is a pleasant break from today’s showings of horror and mayhem, and will leave everyone with soul searching questions and close examinations of one’s own conscience.

Stephanie is most definitely a rising star and all of Hollywood is watching her very closely. She is talented and beautiful, and is quickly evolving into an actress that many Hollywood studios are searching for. Asked for her personal insight on ‘Blast and Whisper’ she responded with the following :

Eerie News: Tragic Fire Brings Acting Community Together

The Publisher’s Corner

A Unique Family Comes  Together Actors do more than just support !

an inside story from the Publisher

In times of tragedy all communities pull together to help get through the bad times, and that goes for the acting community as well. At the beginning of this year Sharon Carpenter, an actress and member of the Roman Pictures film production company, experienced a devastating house fire. She suffered a total loss of everything that she owned.

In the days that followed producer Carlos Roman contacted the acting community that was considered part of the production company’s ‘family’, and they contributed many items to replace some of the ones that she lost.

” You can’t replace the many personal items that mean so much,” she was heard to say, “and the insurance does not cover everything”. (more…)

The Eerie Digest Travels to Hollywood

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

by Joseph J. O’Donnell

On November 7th The Eerie Digest traveled to Hollywood to catch the World Premier of Damian Chapa’s film, ‘Brando- Unauthorized’.

We had touched down in LAX slightly ahead of time on our American Airlines flight and caught the Super Shuttle service to our hotel on Wilshire Boulevard in the Westwood section of Los Angeles. Our home-away-from-home was the Hotel Palomar LA managed by Danielle DeHostos, and one of it’s in-house restaurant managers, Lucas Lazonick who both offered genuine hospitality and attention to detail, that I found very impressive. It’s close proximity to the UCLA campus and the goal of our visit, The Majestic Crest Theater where the premier was held, gave us easy access to our main destination. As a member of the Kimpton Hotels and Restaurant chain, it surely must be the jewel in their crown, as per this person’s experience. (more…)
